Biography
 

Emanuele Cappellotto began his musical studies at the Conservatory "Cesare Pollini" in Padua, where he studied mandolin under the guidance of Ugo Orlandi, graduating with honours in 2002. In 2004, he obtained a Master of Teaching in Music and Performing Arts at Ca' Foscari University in Venice, followed in 2006 by a Master's degree in Mandolin Performance, cum laude, from the Conservatory "Cesare Pollini" in Padua.

 

As a young musician, he participated in the European Guitar and Mandolin Youth Orchestra, taking part in sessions held in Germany (1998), Spain (1999) and Italy (2000).

 

He has performed as a soloist with numerous ensembles and orchestras, including the Collegium Symphonium Venetum, Volens Ensemble, NovArt Baroque Ensemble, Camerata Mandolino Classico (Sweden, 2005, directed by Giorgio Fabbri), the Assumption University Orchestra in Bangkok (2010 and 2013), and the String Orchestra "Giacomo Facco". His long-standing collaboration with the Orchestra a Plettro di Breganze has led to extensive touring across Austria, France, Spain and Hungary, as well as the recording of three CDs: Il Mandolino a Vicenza e Padova (Velut Luna, 2005), Mandolini al chiaro di Luna (Velut Luna, 2010) and Musica di Rinascita (Fischer Italia, 2010).

 

In duo with guitar, Cappellotto has recorded the DVD Novanta passi di memorie and the CD Four Clockworks for Mandolin & Guitar (Dodicilune, 2010). The duo has won First Prize at the National Competition "Città di Castelfidardo" (2003) and the European Competition "Enrico Mercatali" in Gorizia (2005), and has performed in Italy, Spain, Romania, Slovenia and Morocco.

 

In 2013, he toured the United States alongside Prof. August Watters (Berklee College of Music, Boston) with the Boston Mandolins and the New England Mandolin Ensemble.

 

In 2014, he founded MandolinVenice Ensemble (www.mandolinvenice.com).

 

In 2018, at the invitation of Prof. Irina Loginova, he held a masterclass at the Ufa State Institute of Arts (Russia) and gave a recital at the Bashkir State Philharmonic in Ufa.

 

His orchestral career spans collaborations with prestigious institutions, including the Symphony Orchestra "F. J. Haydn" of Bolzano and Trento, the Veneto Philharmonic Orchestra "G. Malipiero", the Orchestra of the Conservatory "G. Martini" in Bologna, I Solisti dell'Olimpico in Vicenza, the Orchestra of the Teatro Regio in Parma, Teatro "La Fenice" in Venice, and Opera Siam in Bangkok.

 

Cappellotto has been featured in broadcasts on Radio Slovenia, Radio Romania, RAI Radio Italia and AllUfa Metropolitan TV.

 

He teaches in the Padua area and has held a position as Professor of Mandolin, Music Theory and Ear Training at the State Music Conservatory "Domenico Cimarosa" in Avellino. His works are published by DaVinci (Osaka) and Edizioni Armelin Musica (Padua).

His instruments include a Raffaele Calace Classico A mandolin (1996), a copy of a Neapolitan Vinaccia mandolin of 1770 (by Cecconi, 2002), a Milanese mandolin by Monzino (19th century) and a Milanese mandolin after Giuseppe Molinari (1750), built by Tiziano Rizzi in 2012.
